about

The Artisans brief flirtation with indiepop stardom was to prove to be a brief affair. Plagued by line up changes, it often felt like one step forward, and two steps back.

With an unsettled line up, time in the studio was limited and only 6 songs were committed to tape.

Jazz Serenade / All I Ever Wanted was originally released as a 7” single on the band’s own label., Infidel Records. This was the only single release and the only release on the label. Without a proper distribution deal, sales were relatively slow, and the funds weren’t available for a follow up release.

A further 4 songs were subsequently recorded. Tolerance and Start Again were donated to the Why Popstars Can’t Dance compilation on the US label Slumberland Records

The remaining 2 songs were never released.

Shortly after the Slumberland release, the band called it a day for good.
